So I changed my wordpress theme, the other was too… default for my tastes. I hope it looks okay, not that many people are reading this page, but that’s not the point! Looking good is certainly the most important thing. I also did some spring cleaning on all my computers, four in all. I turned on the air compressor out in the garage and “dusted” out all four of em. What a dust storm!

Center Channel upgrade

Posted in Uncategorized at 05:14 UTC by Richard

Right now for my surround sound setup, I’m using one of those “home theatre in a box” packages from Onkyo. They’re pretty decent really, considering that they don’t cost much. Knowing that there are considerably better setups out there, I’ve been wanting to improve what I have for quite some time. Since I have a 5.1 speaker setup, and my tuner supports 6.1, I was thinking of upgrading my center channel and moving the old one to a rear speaker position. The biggest problem I’m running into is that highly recommended centers tend to cost quite a bit, but I think I’ve finally settled on one. Here’s the new center I’m considering: http://www.axiomaudio.com/vp100_main.html.

wordpress upgrade

So I mentioned about a day and half ago about upgrading to wordpress 2.0. Well, approximately 10 hours after upgrading, they released 2.0.1. AWESOME. I upgrade and in less than a day, I’m depricated. Time to upgrade again.

Presedential Randomness

Posted in Uncategorized at 00:25 UTC by Richard

Just a couple things, I upgraded to wordpress 2.0 last night and this is my first post using it. I gotta say, pretty decent upgrade. I don’t believe it was available before, but there is a blogger import utility now, so I’ve imported all my old posts from blogger and all the comments contained within that site as well. I’m probably going to wipe out all my blogger material shortly as a result.

On the thought of randomness, my power went out for 90 minutes today. My primary UPS for my three computers in my room started running out of juice within 3 minutes until I powered the first and then the second off. The last computer started sucking the remaining power fairly quickly as well. On the otherhand, the UPS that powers my router (an old compaq desktop computer running freebsd), went strong for the entire 90 minutes.

So did anyone watch the president’s state of the union address? I caught the end of it and was pretty unimpressed, but whatever. The “Democratic Response” given virginia state governor, Tim Kaine, was mildly impressive. He’s certainly a better speaker than Bush, but the speech didn’t really do anything for me.

I’m done with random blathering for now though, stay safe.
